What is ecological gardening?

Ecological gardening is to work with nature, not against it. People often assume that wildlife friendly gardening means growing brambles and nettles. This is not the case! Wildlife friendly gardens can be beautiful, relaxing and inspiring to spend time in.

We all know the scary statistics about how nature is struggling all over the globe from human intervention. Extreme weather events are getting more common and this has worrying impacts on wildlife survival. Now is the time to act to help nature restore balance, and everyone can make a difference with their gardens.

All of this information can feel paralysing. I have had many conversations with people struggling to see how their gardens can make much difference. However, nature is always adapting to what is available. I have seen that even a tiny garden can make a huge difference to boosting wildlife in a neighbourhood. With careful observation and planting, a rich habitat can quickly flourish in a space that was once an ecological desert.
